World Sustainable Transport Day (26 November)
World Sustainable Transport Day, observed on November 26, is an annual event established by the United Nations to raise awareness about the critical role of sustainable mobility for people and goods in achieving sustainable development. The day highlights the need for innovations such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and improved public transport systems to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Sustainable transport is key to broader goals like poverty eradication, reducing inequality, empowering women, and addressing climate change. This is particularly relevant now, as debates intensify over the European Green Deal’s ambitious targets, including the 2035 diesel ban, with industries and governments facing significant economic and logistical challenges in achieving these objectives.
